Singer Ashleigh Ball of Hey Ocean! travels with filmmaker Josh Thome to British Columbia’s remote Broughton Archipelago and Malcolm Island to meet renowned marine biologist Alexandra Morton. The film explores the critical role wild salmon play in the coastal ecosystem—and the ecological dangers posed by industrial fish farms. Hear the Call was screened at several festivals, including the Vancouver International Film Festival, Wild and Scenic Film Festival, and won Best Short Film at the Elements Film Festival in 2019.
